This barangay is called Jaybanga because of the jar-shaped (banga) mountain that surrounds the community. The word “High” is a foreign word adopted during American era while the word “Banga” pertain to a jar or container of water. Over the past years the locals adopted the name and called the place “Highbanga” which later transmitted to Jaybanga and became the name of the barangay that was registered according to the law.
Calling it a hidden place with so much to offer, a part of its terrain’s highest point has a natural spring flowing all year round, giving enough supply of water to nurture the crops and grains that are being cultivated in this upland community. Not only for its soothing stream, there’s also an incredible nature’s artwork that tourist can be foreseen in wider horizon. Their local farmers artistically trimmed their slope hills into layers of rice paddies with promising tourism activities.
It has a total land area of 1,205.1325 hectares and divided into seven sitios, these are: Sitio Kahilan, Bukal, Liang, Malitlit, Nabalagbag, Manggahan and Sitio Bagong Pook.
Farming is the main livelihood of its inhabitants and is 9.676 kilometers away from the town proper.
