ABOUT THE BARANGAY

Barangay Malapad na Parang has been once quoted under the supervision of Brgy. Calumpit and is derived from its geographical structure and shape.

Since they are surrounded by thrilling mountain ranges with limited agricultural land to cultivate, some of the residents moved to lower steep areas for a better opportunity. Not so far, they discover this wilderness with great topographical space and healthy soil to nurture. Since then, without hesitation these inhabitants of Brgy. Calumpit moved to the plains and built their huts for a permanent shelter.

Whenever an stranger asked where they lived the residents always say “Sa Malapad na Parang” or wide meadow. This has been a popular word of mouth from various people until it is declared by the law as one of the official Barangays of Lobo.

It consists of six sitios, these are: Sitio Ibaba, Bulihan, Centro, Pagalahan, Kamalig at Manggahan. It has a total land area of 283,1246 hectares and is 11 kilometeres away from the town proper.

Farming and agricultural trade are the main occupations of its inhabitants.
